In the 1980s, I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. I’ve always considered fashion a form of creative expression and looked forward to a career doing something I loved. But instead, I found an industry already gripped by production practices that harmed both garment workers and the environment.
Now in my sixties, I’m more passionate about the environment than ever. But what about fashion, my first love? Things have gotten worse, but there’s hope. Hope that begins with knowledge and choice.
